"There are certain things that our age needs. It needs, above all, courageous hope and the impulse to creativeness."

OUR COMMUNITY
A thread of hope in the world
"Spirituality is not to be learned by flight from the world, or by running away from things, or by turning solitary and going apart from the world. Rather, we must learn an inner solitude wherever or with whomsoever we may be. We must learn to penetrate things and find God there."
- Meister Eckhart
We lead a small prayer group that meets to meditate, pray, reflect on the vices and virtues in our lives, and attempt to draw closer to God. We follow the teachings of the 3rd Century monastic desert fathers and try to incorporate as much ascesis as possible into our lives while remaining part of the world.
We have found solace and connection in a world that is drowning in loneliness by attempting to live lives of virtue and love for one another.
Through our daily practice, we strive to cultivate the virtues of humility, sincerity, gratitude, courage, patience, discernment, non-attachment, temperance, and tolerance, inspired by Evagrius and the wisdom of the desert fathers. By embracing ascetic practices such as ice baths, meditation, and walking, we aim to calm our passions and deepen our spiritual connection with God. This shared journey has not only brought us solace and connection but also a profound sense of purpose as we navigate the challenges of modern life with faith and compassion.
As Evagrius said, ‘To go against self is the beginning of salvation.’
